My move to Kansas was a smooth transition, partly because of Holiday Apartments. Their website quote "home away from home" has truly felt like it, and it is in the perfect place with a nice, quiet environment. The staff treated me well during my application and move-in process, and they made sure my apartment was set in good condition. It's at a perfect place, too, right next to the highway yet still close to central Lawrence, as well as the library and the grocery store.

Some of the holiday homes at Lalandia are specially equipped for disabled visitors. The holiday homes are on one level, and there is space to, for instance, move a wheelchair around the entire holiday home, as there are extra wide doors. This place has terrible reviews up thru June 2015 but we've had takeout several times Sept thru Nov 2015 and love the food. The meat they call spare ribs may be a bit questionable but it's tasty. Beef broccoli,  orange chicken,  shrimp and chicken fried rice, noodles, spare ribs, sweet/sour pork, wonton soup, steamed and fried wontons  ... all yummy.

Go to the seaside resort La Grande Motte (27 km) for some fun on the beach. The medieval city of Aigues-Mortes (23 km) is a cultural landmark, which used to be one of the eight safe places for protestants.
