Roughly halfway between Topeka and Kansas City along I-70, Lawrence is just far enough away from both neighbors to have its own unique identity. The University of Kansas is the city’s most conspicuous feature, and Lawrence is undeniably a college town. As a result, the community has a distinctly cosmopolitan vibe, with a robust academic population, thriving arts and entertainment scene, and strong downtown nightlife.
Your needs are unique and so are the properties included in our portfolio – their accommodation, the facilities offered and the staffing available. We urge you to speak to us to ensure your expectations are met; we have visited all the properties and we have learnt over many years that our personal knowledge of these gorgeous houses is advice you appreciate.
Second home and holiday home owners used to be able to claim discounts in their council tax in the United Kingdom, as the property is vacant for much of the year. This is no longer true in many areas, including Carmarthenshire; if the property is empty (but furnished) no discount is permitted and the owner will be liable to pay the tax in full.[12] But, In Cornwall, since 2004 second home owners can claim a 10% discount in their council tax.[5] Prior to 2004, they could claim a 50% discount in Cornwall,[13] they are still able to claim 50% in many other areas in England.[6] The Welsh movement, Cymuned, promote the principle that owners of holiday homes should pay double the standard rate of council tax, as they do not otherwise invest in the local community.[14] Testimony of this is to be seen in a report on the effect of holiday homes in Scotland, which found that those who went on holiday to Scotland spent an average of £57 a day, in comparison to just £32 a day spent by those visiting their holiday or second homes.[4]

The next time, my takeout order was for three dishes at $5.99 each; my calculator told me the bill as presented came to a little more than 10% over $17.97 ($5.99 dishes x 3.)  When I questioned the total bill, the cashier told me it was $17.97 for the food plus tax.  I told him that would make the sales tax over 10%; he told me he charged just what the "bossey" (his term) said to charge.  I reminded him that sales tax in Sacramento is not 10%.  I wrote down the math for him, applying the going sales tax rate and told him the bill was 60 cents more than it should be.  He then said there is a 10 cent charge per takeout container.  I said ok, then I'll pay the bill, less 30 cents, to which he agreed.

On the way to the Hotel Formentor, this is a semi circular beach with narrow fringes of sand, clear water and thick pinewoods which lead down to the water. It can be very busy as boats also moor here and there is a daily visit from the glass bottom boat with lots of holidaymakers aboard! There are 2 bars on the beach and parking facilities a short walk away.
If you need a break from all this holiday relaxation in just an hour you can be in the island’s surprisingly sophisticated capital, Palma. Half of Majorca's 600,000 population live in this commercial and cultural centre, making the most of the rich history, culture and shopping. Most of the historic centre is traffic-free. You will find a lively cafe society reminiscent of Barcelona, as well as a thriving arts scene and stylish, sophisticated nightlife. [more] It is easy to spend a day drifting between shops, pavement cafés and museums. The city is dominated by La Seu Cathedral, a Gothic epic that took almost 400 years to build, on the site of a mosque and before that a Roman temple. Just to the east of the cathedral is a beach with a cycle path and promenade. For designer clothes try Jaume III, Palma’s equivalent to London’s Bond Street and for a superb choice of restaurants, head for the harbour. [less]
Second homes are immensely popular, particularly during Canada's summer season. They are referred to differently in different parts of the country; in Ontario it is usually 'cottage', while 'cabin' or 'the lake' is used in much of the rest of Canada. In Ontario, the most popular destination is the Muskoka region of Ontario, known for its many lakes and forests. Muskoka is even referred to as "cottage country" and sees over 2.1 million visitors annually. On the East Coast, the Maritimes are home to many oceanfront cottages. Likewise, British Columbia on the West Coast is another popular vacation destination for seekers of vacation properties. In the Canadian Prairies and British Columbia Interior, vacation properties are located near or on freshwater lakes. Chalets at ski resorts are also common during winter.

We had the most relaxing, thrilling and genuine vacation experience imaginable. The house, its pool and its beautiful setting is a paradise in itself and Giuseppe took care of us in a wonderful and most hospitable way. Sant' Ambroggio's inhabitants welcomed us in every way and we felt very much as part of the village life for a week. We would return tomorrow if we could! … see more

Nature has been good to Majorca and there are many places of both manmade and natural beauty to visit. Majorca's greatest tourist treasure is formed by its 345 miles of coastline so there are many inlets, hidden coves and historical caves to explore. Inland there are gardens and old farmhouses to discover where life is portrayed as it was way before tourism came to Majorca.

I looked at the other reviews. I am all for a clean kitchen but I think people are unrealistically unaware of the fact that all restaurants have bug problems (but pay for pest control to keep it down) and use spoiled veggies to reduce costs (yet hopefully weed through them well). My brother worked at a Round Table pizza in town before where they used tomatoes covered in mold for the marinara sauce. Don't be deceived by good interior decorating. Also, this place is a family business, not the McDonalds drive thru. Don't go here if you are in a hurry.
Economically, a Mission Beach or Bay vacation rental is a great idea. You won’t be paying the high rate of hotels and restaurant bills, because these San Diego Beach House Rentals have complete kitchens. Located within walking distance of some attractions and a city bus ride away from most others, a rental car is strictly optional if you stay at one of these Mission Beach Vacation Rentals. Add up the cost for your family to stay in one or more tiny San Diego Hotel rooms, plus the cost to eat all meals at restaurants, and compare that to what you get with one of these San Diego Vacation Rentals.
Absolutely stunning views from the Hamlet! Lovely location at the end of a quiet street in a village away from the tourist crowd but we could still easily drive to all the attractions on Gozo within 15 minutes. There are several beautiful hikes that are accessible directly from the Hamlet. Our family of six stayed in Hamlet 3 which was very spacious and well equipped. The indoor pool was well used on the cooler days. The staff at Baron Holiday Homes were very responsive in answering all our questions and concerns. Excellent service from beginning to end. Highly recommended!
